Affiliate Agreement
A Parents’ Rights in Education affiliate is a group that represents Parents’ Rights in Education within a specific geographical area. Affiliates exemplify the mission and values of Parents’ Rights in Education related to parents’ rights issues within their local area.

Press and Media Opportunities

All formal media/press inquiries and communications where any member speaks on behalf of Parents' Rights in Education must be sent to National for review/edit/approval before enactment.

Training
Parent’s Rights in Education National provides affiliates with multiple training opportunities. Our training is derived from Western Liberty Network (WLN) and tailored for Parents’ Rights in Education. As a Parents’ Rights in Education affiliate, you are also a member of WLN and can access its wide variety of training courses.

An affiliate with 12+ Club 12 x 12 members will be recognized as a 'Club Affiliate' and receive increased support from Parents' Rights in Education National.
Club Affiliates will receive:

Parents’ Rights in Education welcomes you to our affiliate agreement subject to your compliance with the terms and conditions set forth in these Terms of Use (“TOU”) and Terms of Service (“TOS”). These terms govern the relationship between the parent organization, Parents’ Rights in Education, and you as a Parents’ Rights in Education affiliate.
It is important that you read these terms and conditions carefully before you sign the affiliate agreement, and if you do not agree with them, please do not sign and submit this form. Any questions or comments you may have regarding this affiliate agreement should be sent to communications@parentsrightsineducation.org.
Parent’s Rights in Education reserves the right to modify the TOU and TOS without prior notice at any time, and we will post a revised terms and conditions and update the date at the bottom of the page. It is therefore important that you read this page from time to time to ensure you are updated regarding any changes to these terms and conditions.
1. License of the Parent Organization’s Trademarks to Affiliates Parents Rights In Education affiliates are given limited rights to use the parent organization’s name, logo, and other trademarks, and call itself an “Affiliate” of Parents’ Rights in Education. A state affiliate leader is the head affiliate leader within a state. A local affiliate leader is the leader of an affiliate.
2. Brand Usage A brand guide is available to both state affiliate leaders and local affiliate leaders on the Parent’s Rights in Education website under the leadership center. The brand guide includes colors, fonts, and logos, etc., affiliates may use to ensure uniformity in branding and messaging. All printed materials must display the Parents' Rights In Education logo and tagline as provided. Affiliates shall not edit official marketing materials without permission from Parents’ Rights in Education National.
3. Permitted Activities Including the responsibilities outlined in the affiliate onboarding document, it is legal for affiliate groups to participate in lobbying in your states as long as you do not spend money for a professional lobbyist or support candidates financially. Affiliates may not endorse candidates individually, but they can recommend candidates fill out the parent organization’s candidate endorsement questionnaire to receive an endorsement from Parents’ Rights in Education National. When representing Parents’ Rights in Education, affiliates will represent policy positions held by the parent organization. When in disagreement on a policy position with the parent organization, an affiliate is required to refrain from sharing any form of public opposition to the parent organization’s policy positions.
4. Coalition Activities and Partnerships State affiliate leaders reserve the right to approve local partnerships for short-term coalition work. When a state affiliate leader is unavailable, a local affiliate shall request permission from Parents’ Rights in Education National. Parents’ Rights in Education National reserves the right to approve affiliation with other groups, form long-term ongoing partnerships with national groups, and review and sanction the use of Parents’ Rights in Education branding on any promotional literature, websites or advertising. As a Parents’ Rights in Education affiliate, you are also a member of Western Liberty Network, and can access its wide variety of training courses.
5. Formal Requirements (Incorporation and Tax-Exempt Status) Parents’ Rights in Education is a tax exempt, nonprofit corporation. A nonprofit organization, also known as a non-business entity, not-for-profit organization, or nonprofit institution, is traditionally dedicated to furthering a particular social cause or advocating for a shared point of view. Affiliates, not separately incorporated, are unincorporated associations linked with Parents’ Rights in Education corporately. To keep 501(c)(3) status, an organization must not do anything that would cause it to lose its exempt designation from the IRS. That can include private benefit, inurement, lobbying (paid lobbyist), political campaign activity (contributing money), excessive unrelated business income, not filing an annual 990 tax information form, and failing to achieve its original purpose. Affiliates are responsible for following state laws pertaining to activities restricted by Non- profit 501-C3 status. Affiliates are NOT required to form independent corporations with formal boards of directors and governing documents. Affiliates may incorporate organizational titles and leadership responsibilities of their choosing.
6. Record Keeping, Reporting, and Inspection Affiliates must issue an annual summary report of activities due to the parent organization, by December 31 of every year. Affiliates must allow the parent organization to inspect its records upon reasonable request.
7. Contributions An affiliate's status is determined by the number of Club 12 x 12 members it has. Club 12 x 12 members shall contribute $12/month to Parents’ Rights in Education. An affiliate with less than 12 Club 12 x 12 members is an “Affiliate”. An affiliate with 12+ Club 12 x 12 members is a “Club Affiliate.”
8. Revocation and Modification of Affiliation Status Parents’ Rights in Education National reserves the right to revoke the affiliation status or otherwise modify an affiliate’s role (e.g., by forcing a merger of two or more affiliates from different territories) when an affiliate has demonstrated non-compliance with the affiliation agreement. Revocation is subject to 30-day notice, whereby dispute resolution procedures will be followed. A revoked affiliate must cease all use of Parents’ Rights in Education branding and trademarks, including by amending its corporate documents, if necessary.
9. Affiliation Dissolution An affiliate may disassociate for any reason. Formal written notice is required. All branded materials are copyrighted property of Parents’ Rights in Education. Use of the logo and all branded materials must cease. Legal action will be pursued if the use of the parent organization's name, logo, and other trademarks is breached.
